Residents in parts of Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois were in for a visual treat on Sunday night as they were lucky enough to witness the stunning phenomenon of the Northern Lights. The Aurora viewline was visible due to a strong geomagnetic storm following a coronal mass ejection from the sun.
The mesmerizing display of the Aurora Borealis took place in various colors, including purple, blue, crimson, and green. It painted the night sky with an ethereal beauty, captivating those who were fortunate enough to witness it. Reports suggest that the lights were even visible across the pond, turning the skies “magenta.”
While residents in the Chicago area missed out on the Northern Lights, they can still look forward to mild and windy weather with above-average temperatures reaching up to 70 degrees. Monday is expected to be a dry day with partly sunny skies, although isolated showers are possible in northern counties.
Temperatures will be warmer than usual, with highs ranging from the mid-60s to low 70s. Breezy conditions with gusts of up to 43 mph are expected in the morning, but the winds are anticipated to die down as the day progresses.
The good news is that these “seasonably warm” conditions will continue through Wednesday. However, there is a chance for showers late Tuesday into Wednesday morning and afternoon.
So, despite missing out on the Northern Lights, residents in the Chicago area can still enjoy pleasant weather and above-average temperatures for the next few days. Whether it’s taking a leisurely walk, enjoying outdoor activities, or simply basking in the warmth, it’s a great time to embrace the spring season and make the most of these favorable weather conditions.
