Man Steals Ambulance in Arlington, Virginia, Causing Multiple Hit-and-Run Crashes
Arlington, Virginia – In a shocking incident, a man stole an ambulance and led police on a dangerous chase, causing multiple hit-and-run crashes. The stolen vehicle has been identified as belonging to Darell T. Caldwell, a 30-year-old man from Brandywine, Maryland.
The chaos began when the first crash occurred on I-66, and the driver promptly fled the scene. To everyone’s disbelief, another crash involving the same stolen truck occurred shortly after on I-395. It seemed that the suspect was determined to leave a trail of destruction.
In a series of unfortunate events, Caldwell proceeded to cause another crash on the George Washington Parkway. However, his audacity reached new heights when he seized the opportunity to steal an Arlington County Fire Department ambulance while medics were attending to a separate crash.
As the sirens blared, police pursued the stolen ambulance through Arlington County and into Washington, D.C., with the driver ruthlessly hitting several vehicles along the way. A wild pursuit unfolded, endangering the lives of innocent bystanders.
The highly tense chase eventually came to an end when the ambulance struck a parked car head-on in SW D.C. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported from any of the crashes, but the sheer recklessness of the incident left the community in shock.
Caldwell was taken into custody without incident following the collision. However, due to the intense ordeal, he is currently undergoing a medical evaluation at an area hospital. Authorities are investigating a total of 13 hit-and-run crashes caused by the stolen ambulance.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone struck by the vehicle during the pursuit to come forward and report their experience to the Virginia State Police. Caldwell is facing charges from both federal and local authorities, with additional state police charges pending.
As the community recovers from this shocking event, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of public safety and the tireless efforts of emergency responders who put their lives on the line to protect and serve.
