Moroccan Military Establishes Field Hospital and Tent Camp in Response to Asni Earthquake
Asni, Morocco – In a swift response to the recent earthquake that struck Asni, the Moroccan military has set up a large tent camp and field hospital near the disaster’s epicenter. Led by Col. Youssef Qamouss, the hospital currently boasts a team of 24 doctors and 48 nurses, ready to provide crucial medical aid to those affected by the quake.
With the capacity to expand beyond its initial 30 beds, the hospital and its staff bring a wealth of experience working in disaster zones, having previously been deployed to Jordan and the Ivory Coast. These seasoned professionals employ a triage system to effectively assess patients’ needs before referring them to appropriate specialists for further treatment.
The hospital’s layout consists of 16 large tents arranged in a horse-shoe formation, with each tent designated for a different department. These departments include urgent care, ophthalmology, surgery, pediatrics, and radiology, ensuring a comprehensive range of medical services is available onsite.
Since the earthquake, the hospital has been inundated with patients suffering from various injuries. The most common injuries treated at the facility include burns, fractures, cuts, and injuries to the face. The medical team is working tirelessly to provide immediate and long-term care to all those in need.
In addition to providing crucial medical attention, the hospital’s pharmacy tent has been buzzing with activity. Many earthquake survivors have been urgently trying to obtain regular medications that may have been lost during the disaster. This includes essential supplies such as blood pressure pills and insulin, which are vital for the well-being of those who rely on them. The pharmacy staff is working diligently to ensure that these medications are readily available to all who require them.
As the community in Asni continues to grapple with the aftermath of the earthquake, the Moroccan military’s proactive response in establishing this field hospital and tent camp has been instrumental in providing vital medical support. The dedicated efforts of Col. Youssef Qamouss and his team of medical professionals will undoubtedly go a long way in bringing healing and relief to those affected by this devastating natural disaster.
